You were asked to place a security deposit to access your credit because
we offered you a secured credit line.
A security deposit for credit is a secured credit account that requires
a security deposit in order to open the credit account. Typically,
consumers are asked to place a security deposit due to their lack of
credit history or sub-prime credit score. Grain doesn’t care about your
credit history or credit score. Instead we may ask you to place a
security deposit based on the cash flow in your linked checking
account.
Security deposits for credit cards are commonplace. Many other credit
providers, such as Visa, Discover, Capital One and Citi, offer up a type
of secured credit.
